True North

How was True North born?
I was asked to sing a demo for some writer friends, William Lee Ellis and Mary Unobsky. We had such a great chemistry in the studio that we decided to try writing together. It was my first team writing experience, and I loved it. We spent about 16 months writing songs, and at the end of it pulled the best and added them to several tunes I penned solo. I asked several of my talented friends to give life to the music, and about 16 months after that we had True North completed.

Are any of the songs dedications?
Not officially. Unofficially, Bury Me In The Sky is for my grandmother Josephine, Daughter is for my mom, True North is for my sister, and Jump On is for everybody who knows they should be doing something else.

Vinegar In Your Veins

(Kim Richardson, William Lee Ellis, and Mary Unobsky)

Baby, what’s it like having vinegar in your veins?
It can’t seem right knowing this is all that remains
And all you hear is a high lonesome refrain
That’s just life with vinegar in your veins

Baby, where’s the end to the vinegar in your veins?
Any sign of need is just going against your grain
And you laugh at love and think it’s so insane
What is life with vinegar in your veins?

Everybody knows
From the grin that you display
Every time it shows
Through your paper thin cliché

How’s it feel when the newness wears away?
Every single kiss brings you closer to decay
And all that’s left is what no one wants to say
That’s your life when the newness wears away

Everybody knows
You tango in your lies
Every time it shows
Somehow you act surprised

Baby, what’s it like having vinegar in your veins?
It can’t seem right knowing this is what you became
And you laugh at love and think it’s so insane
That’s just life with vinegar in your veins
That’s just life with vinegar in your veins
That’s your life with vinegar in your veins
