Kerrville memories
Kerrville was amazing. After I got over my homesickness, that is. The first night away from home always seems like the worst. Leaving the pack isn't easy. Those of you with pups know what I mean. The weather in Texas was so beautiful. We stopped in Luckenbach and played a few songs. What a hoot! Then we took our mosey over to Fredericksburg where Jimbo helped a local band with their sound. He's such a giver! :) They sounded great, of course. And now they're spoiled, I'm sure.
The folks are Kerrville are just so welcoming. When you arrive, they greet you with "Welcome Home," and the first time it seems strange, but now I can't wait to hear it again next year.
Highlights (in no particular order):
- Singing "Hot in Herre" during the Rouse House cover round
- Playing in a round with Jon Vezner (who wrote "Where've You Been" for Kathy Mattea, his wife), Butch Morgan, RJ Cowdery, and Neale Eckstein
- Bettysoo with her accordion and beer
- Becoming addicted to Colin McGrath's "Grin Like That" song
- Making so many friends who I hope to see again sooner than later
The best part about Kerrville is dropping all the competitive bullshit and just playing songs with each other and having fun with the music, which is what the music is for in the first place. And I can't wait to do it again.
