Good news to share... April 2010

I've been selected as a Kerrville New Folk Finalist this year! It's so exciting I can hardly stand it. What an honor. I am truly grateful. There are so many talented songwriters in the mix this year. I'm just tickled pink to be included.

This contest takes place at Quiet Valley Ranch, near Kerrville, TX. If you're unfamiliar with Kerrville, it's a camping festival that lasts almost three weeks. Each night there are incredible concerts on the main stage. Afterwards, everyone grabs a guitar, finds a campfire, and shares songs until the wee hours of morning. For many of us, it's a time to reconnect with friends we only get to see once or twice a year.

Per contest rules, I entered two songs: The Boat Song (You & Me), and Two Babies to Bullets. Earlier this year, I recorded both songs with my brother (from another mother) Jimbo Lattimore. The recording sessions were broadcast live via ustream. Turns out it's entertaining for folks to watch me sing pieces of a song at a time. Who knew?

I have to re-record The Boat Song (You & Me) before I can post it. You'll love it, too. It's a fun tune.

So, I'll be headed to Texas in late May! If you're a music-loving camper, check it out. It might just be the vacation you need. And I'll be sure to take as many pictures and videos as I can so that I can share the experience with you.
